Hamilton Power News April

Good afternoon members, I hope you have all enjoyed your long weekend.

Just a quick catch up on what’s happening around the club over the next week.

Tuesday Social
This Tuesday the 27th April, Hamilton members will be playing a game of fours against North Qld district side, who are down here for State district sides championships commencing on Wednesday.

Because there are more members names down then what we need, a game of fours or pairs will be played with the leftover players.
It should be a great morning of bowls; The greens are running nicely and I think we will give the North Queensland side a solid hit out.

Club Championship Pairs:
We have had a couple of more games since last weekend as we get down to the business end of the Pairs. A couple of teams still need to pull their fingers out to catch up and get through to the final.

Club Championship Singles:
The 2021 Singles draw has been complete with games commencing on or before Sunday 2nd May.
We have 34 members entered and all Sunday games are to be played on Green 1.

As we can only fit 14 players on the green at any one time, I would like you to look carefully at the draw and where you are situated as to what time you can expect to play on Sunday.
I will show you the draw here and times to help. Players for singles are expected to find their own markers, but it would be great if you have drawn a later game to volunteer your services to mark the
earlier ones. Also, if you by some chance lose your first game, it would be appreciated if you stuck around to mark the game after you if required.

The first four entries will have to play 3 games on Sunday if you get through, with all others to play 2 games unless you get a game in earlier.

Sunday 2nd May Round 3 games to be played when rinks become available.
Note: unless you are the first four names on the draw (3 games) you will be still expected to play 2 games on Sunday unless you get games in earlier.

Mid-week Pennants:
The Mighty Hamilton Power continue their perfect start to the season with another hard-fought victory 2 –1 against Ferny Grove. Apologies to Jim Hanna for last week’s email. I incorrectly said it was Alan Whiteman leading up a storm, when in fact it was Jimmy Hanna burning it up.

State District Sides:
As I mentioned earlier the State District Sides Championships will be commencing in the Gateway District from Wednesday the 28th April till Saturday 1st May.
Hamilton has members Alan Howard and Kurt Kratzmann representing Brisbane District and will be playing at Logan City Bowls Club.
We wish you all the very best gentleman.

State Championships:
The Qld State Championships will be commencing in the Gateway District from Tuesday 4th May until Monday 17th May.
Hamilton has had many members enter in this year’s Championships; it is great to see so many getting out there and having a red-hot crack.
The Gateway district is only across the river, so if you would like to see some world class bowls, get yourself over to one of the clubs and enjoy.
Go to the Bowls Qld website for all your District sides and State Championship info.

Enjoy Your Bowls
